Lazarus pair take out New Jersey Classic Finals

Lazarus pair Voukefalas and Two Pistol Annie claimed the New Jersey Classic Finals for 2-year-old pacers at The Meadowlands on September 16.

The New Jersey Sire Stakes Championship winner Voukefalas led throughout in the $150,000 2YO Colts and Geldings Classic Final, holding out a fast finishing Handlelikeaporsche to win by half a length.

The Michael Russo trained colt has now won three of his five starts and $227,400 in stakes.

In the $150,000 Fillies Final, Two Pistol Annie raced midfield before flashing home in 26.6 to win going away by four lengths.

It was her third win of the year and boosted her earnings to $83,527.  

Both youngsters are bred along similar lines, with both being out of Cam Fella line broodmares – Voukefalas out of the Cams Fortune mare Inittowinafortune and Two Pistol Annie the Cambest mare Magical Bestern.

The first crop US progeny of Lazarus have won over $1.1 million in stakes to date in 2022.
