Mighty Logan secures Dominion Trot berth
The Robert and Jenna Dunn trained Mighty Logan made an impressive 2026 debut, taking out the Group 3 ITM Ordeal Trotting Cup in the final strides at Addington on Friday night.
Returning after being sidelined since New Year’s Eve, the 7-year-old son of Creatine delivered a statement win, securing his place in the Group 1 Renwick Farms Dominion Trot during Cup Week.
Beginning the best of the back markers, regular reinsman John Dunn sent Mighty Logan forward to take the lead before handing up soon after to Eurostyle.
Three-back on the running rail for the final lap, Mighty Logan looked out of contention when Eurostyle galloped with 300m to run, checking him.
But Mighty Logan was able to balance up, then angle into the clear and storm home to catch Mr Love on the line, winning by a nose.
A Group 1 winner last season and the runner-up to Just Believe in the 2024 Dominion Trot, Mighty Logan has now won 12 races and $319,216 in career earnings.
Bred and raced by siblings Barry and Diane Clark, Mighty Logan is out of the Sierra Kosmos mare Landora’s Siesta.
Creatine also sired a winner at Thursday’s Winton meeting, with Don’t Stop Believing breaking through for a maiden win at just her fourth start.
Across the Tasman, his 7-year-old son Cormoran Strike has caught the eye in recent months, with the former kiwi square-gaiter winning four of his last five starts at Tabcorp Park Menangle, including a career-best 1:54.5 victory on the 22nd of August.
Creatine’s frozen semen is available in New Zealand this season at $2,000 + GST.
