Mufasa Metro takes out Breeders Crown Championship

Mufasa Metro led from start to finish to take out the Group 2 Breeders Crown Championship for 4YO Trotting Entires and Geldings at Tabcorp Park Melton on Friday.

The speedy son of Father Patrick wasn’t troubled in holding the lead from barrier one and kept the tempo solid throughout, upping the ante late with the last half completed in a quick 56.4.

Rounding the home turn the only serious challenger was Locksley Lover, who had enjoyed a dream run in the trail, and loomed up to challenge Mufasa Metro in the straight.

Mufasa Metro was up to the task though and fought gamely to the line to score by a half neck in a mile rate of 1:57.4.

The John Justice trained trotter has now won nine races and banked $139,125 in stakes winnings.

He is out of the Group 1 winning Safely Kept mare Paris Metro.
