The NZ bred Father Patrick gelding Mufasa Metro defeated a quality field of 3-year-old square-gaiters in the $30,000 Group 2 VHRC Caduceus Holmfield at Bendigo on Saturday night.

In a field containing five individual Group 1 winners, it was the 2021 Harness Jewels Ruby runner-up, Mufasa Metro that came out on top, with the recent kiwi import leading throughout the 1650m race and holding out a fast finishing Aldebaran Zeus to win by a long neck in a mile rate of 1:57.9.

The John Justice trained and driven gelding has got off to the perfect start in Australia with two wins from two starts to date, to go along with his two previous New Zealand wins.

Twice Group race placed in New Zealand, Mufasa Metro has amassed just over $58,000 in stakes.

Out of the Group 1 National Trot winning Safely Kept mare Paris Metro, Mufasa Metro is a half brother to the Group 1 winner Massive Metro (by Muscle Mass), who like his dam, also won the National Trot.
