Muscle Mass filly wins NZ Trotting Oaks

Muscle Mass filly Aldebaran Floss prevailed in an exciting finish to the $50,000 Group 2 NZ Trotting Oaks at Addington Raceway on Friday.

The Murray Alfeld trained filly began quickly from barrier one, leading briefly before handing up to the race favourite Wanna Play With Me.

Pushed three-back on the markers when fellow Muscle Mass filly Mexicana went to the front mid race, Aldebaran Floss was able to dash through on passing lane when Wanna Play With Me elected to come off Mexicana’s back at the top of the straight, and was able to hold out that filly by a neck on the line with Mexicana only a neck further back. The win was Aldebaran Floss’s third this year, having only made her race debut at the end of November.

Bred by Aldebaran Lodge, Aldebaran Floss is out of the five-win Love You mare Another Love, a full sister to the two-time NZ Age Group Male Trotter of the Year Enghien.
