The Justin Prentice trained, Tricky Miki became Always B Miki’s second Group 1 winner when taking out the $125,000 Golden Slipper in decisive fashion at Gloucester Park yesterday evening.

The light raced 2-year-old proved too strong for a quality field that contained seven stakes winners, sprinting off the leader’s back at the top of the home straight to win by three lengths from Whataretheodds and another son of Always B Miki, in the Group 2 winning NZ bred Youre So Fine.

Tricky Miki has now won two of his four starts, and placed in both other outings, for stakes earnings of $92,709.

Bred by Steven Johnson, Tricky Miki is out of the Group 1 placed Modern Art mare Harriet Elisabeth.

The weekend also saw Always B Miki notch up his 14th 2-year-old winner of the season when Magic Feeling won on debut at Hobart on Sunday evening.

It was a good weekend for the young sire in North America too, with his brilliant first crop sons Southwind Gendry and Perfect Sting finishing first and third respectively in the second of the Meadowlands Pace eliminations on Sunday afternoon.
