Son of Always B Miki sublime in SA Derby

The Courtney Slater trained Luvtobeuptome is the latest stakes winner for boom sire Always B Miki after sensationally streeting his rivals in the Listed South Australian Derby at Globe Derby on Saturday night.

Luvtomeuptome, the odds-on race favourite, was caught wide early before pushing on to the lead, then simply gapped the rest of the field in the back straight the final time, powering out to score by an astonishing 28m from the second-placed Zanda Man.

His winning mile rate of 1:54.7 for the 2,230m trip was just 0.3 of a second outside Guaranteed’s all-age track record.

Placed as a juvenile in last season’s Breeders Crown Final, Luvtobeuptome has now won eight races and banked $107,281 in stakes money.

He is out of the stakes-winning Village Jasper mare, Luvthisone.
