Ever Hoping became the latest stakes winner from Always B Miki’s debut down-under crop when he took out the $50,000 Group 2 Southern Cross Final for 2YO Pacing Colts and Geldings at Globe Derby Park on Saturday evening.

The Alyce Finnis trained pacer settled towards the back of the field in the running line before moving up with cover at the 600m mark and sprinting home strongly in the straight to score by a length from Major Lincoln.

The son of Always B Miki rated 1:56.4 for the 1800m feature.

He has now won three races and $35,825 in stakes earnings.

Ever Hoping is the only foal to race to date out of the 14-win Bettor’s Delight mare Bettor Believe It.

He is the sixth 2-year-old Group Race winner to date from Always B Miki’s first crop, with the stallion currently the leading first season sire in both New Zealand and Australia by a wide margin, and the third leading juvenile sire overall in both countries.
