Father Patrick continued his dominance of New Zealandʻs juvenile trotting features at Addington on Friday night, siring the quinella in the $75,000 Listed Harness Million 2YO Trot.

The Matthew White trained Paramount Kiwi maintained his unbeaten status with an easy all the way win over the Father Patrick filly Lil Whip.

Paramount Kiwi began the best off the gate, trotting straight to the front and looked in control throughout, maintaining a decent break on the field.

The promising gelding extended his lead in the straight, coasting to an untouched three and a half length victory over Lil Whip, who made up good ground in the closing stages to take second.

Paramount Kiwi has now won all three of his race-day starts and $62,438 in stakes.

Bred by Studholme Bloodstock and Graham Gimblett, Paramount Kiwi is out of the Sundon mare Paramount Star and is a half-brother to the three-time New Zealand Age Group Male Trotter of the Year Paramount Geegee.

Father Patrickʻs  progeny dominated New Zealandʻs juvenile trotting ranks last season with his youngsters winning all but one of the countryʻs trotting features for 2-year-olds, and in winning the 2022 2YO Trotting Sires Premiership he set a new record for stakes won by juvenile trotters in a season.

He currently leads the 2023 New Zealand 2YO Trotting Sires Premiership by both stakes won and number of individual winners.
