Stakes win extends strong run for son of Creatine

Cormoran Strike continued his outstanding form at Menangle on Saturday night, winning the Listed Tony and Jill McGrath Trotters Mobile (1609m) in a career-best 1:54.2.

The 7-year-old, trained and driven by Brad Hewitt, began sharply from barrier 10 and took the lead by the end of the first quarter.

From there, Cormoran Strike kept the tempo up before digging deep in the home straight to repel a fast finishing Your Majesty and win by 1.7m.

By Kentucky Futurity winner Creatine, the striking black gelding has won 14 races, six of them at Menangle since late July, and earned $209,218 in stakes.

Bred by Phil and Christine Smith, Cormoran Strike is out of the Sundon mare Fancy Pants.
