Mares by Always B Miki took out stakes races in both hemispheres over the weekend, with Aardieʻs Express too good in the Group 3 Hannon Memorial at Oamaru and Grace Hill a dominant winner of the $220,000 Milton Stakes at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

The Steve and Amanda Telfer trained Aardieʻs Express handled her first open class assignment with ease, with the big 4-year-old mare beginning safely from the standing start, heading to the lead and then taking the trail behind Republican Party.

She then sprinted home strongly up the passing line to win by a length and a quarter from last yearʻs NZ Derby runner-up Republican Party.

It was her 10th win from just 13 starts and took her earnings to $134,139.

Aardieʻs Express is out of the multiple Group 1 placed Rocknroll Hanover mare Tatijana Bromac.

In North America, Grace Hill maintained her dominance of the aged mares ranks, finishing powerfully in the Milton Stakes to score by two lengths in a time of 1:48 flat.

With 27 career wins and earnings of $1,731,906, Grace Hill has now surpassed her Jugette winning dam Western Silkʻs (by Western Terror) record of 26 wins and $1,729,708 in stakes earnings.
