Taking The Miki takes out the WA Oaks

Taking The Miki is the latest Group 1 winner from Always B Miki’s debut crop, with the diminutive filly a gutsy winner of the $150,000 WA Oaks at Gloucester Park on Friday.

In the trail for the majority of the 2,536m trip, Taking The Miki was angled off the rail approaching the home turn, and in a blanket finish fought gamely to score by a half head from Little Darling and Archane Girl.

It was her sixth win and took her earnings to $198,180, making her Always B Miki’s richest Southern Hemisphere bred offspring.

Bred by Patrician Park, Taking the Miki is out of the Bettor’s Delight mare All American Dream.

She is the fourth Group 1 winner to emerge from Always B Miki debut crop, which has produced a phenomenal 19 stakes performers to date.
