A Rocknroll Dance gelding, Tango Tara claimed his second, and biggest, stakes win of the season when taking out the Group 2 Breeders Crown Graduate Pacers Free For All at Tabcorp Park Melton on Friday night.

In a gritty display the Andy Gath trained pacer led for the majority of the 2,240m feature before being clearly headed by the race favourite General Dodge with 200m to go.

The 5-year-old son of A Rocknroll Dance was up for the fight though, digging deep in the straight to retake the lead, and then resolutely fending off the late challenge of Supreme Dominator to claim the win by a head.

It was Tango Tara’s 11th win and took his earnings past $215,000.

Bred by Ray Anicich, Tango Tara is out of the Bettor’s Delight mare Tara Delight, a half-sister to the Group 1 winners Power Of Tara and A G’s White Socks, as well as to the dam of the seven-time Group 1 winner and 2019 Australian Horse of the Year, Tiger Tara.
