The past few days have seen two very impressive new Southern Hemisphere winners emerge for the first season trotting sire Creatine, in the form of Kowhai Sunset and Itzfergietime.

The Mark Jones trained and driven colt Kowhai Sunset easily accounted for his rivals at Rangiora on Sunday, looping the field with 750m to go and trotting strongly to the line to win by two and a quarter lengths.

Bred and raced by John and Jill Hartnell, Kowhai Sunset is out of their three-win Sundon mare Kowhai Sunrise.

The Kerry Towers trained Creatine filly Itzfergietime was even more impressive when winning a 2YO Trotters Foundation Heat at Menangle yesterday afternoon, with an absolutely dominant performance.

After a fast finishing second on debut to fellow Creatine juvenile, Major Creation a fortnight ago, Itzfergietime more than franked that promising form by striding to the lead with 450m to go and running out the winner by four lengths.

The beautifully gaited filly is a homebred for Kerry and Andrew Towers and is the first foal of the 13-win Yankee Paco mare Chevaux Rainbow.

Creatine is now the sire of four Australasian 2-year-old winners to date his season, making him second only to Love You for juvenile trotting winners in 2020/21.
