Vincent sired the first two runners home in the Group 2 NZ Sapling Stakes at Ashburton Raceway on Sunday afternoon, with his first crop sons Vinke B and Wish Me Luck fighting out the finish.

It was a deserved breakthrough win for the Mark Purdon and Hayden Cullen trained Vinke B, with the 2-year-old having previously placed in both the Group 2 Diamond Creek Farm Classic and the Group 2 NZ Welcome Stakes.

Vinke B led throughout to hold out a gallant Wish Me Luck, who had raced parked from the 1100m mark, edging out his stablemate to win by a head, pacing his last 400m in 26.8 seconds.

Both 2-year-olds are similarly bred, with Vinke B out of the race winning Bettor’s Delight mare Imke B, and Wish Me Luck out of the unraced Roll With Joe (a full brother to Bettor’s Delight) mare I’m So Lucky.

Vincent is currently New Zealand’s third leading sire of 2-year-olds this season, behind only Bettor’s delight and Art Major.

The first season stallion has produced five stakes performers to date from his debut Australasian crop.
