Vincent’s progeny shine in both hemispheres
Vincent enjoyed a successful weekend, producing stakes performers in both hemispheres.
At Gloucester Park on Friday night, Mad Monday led throughout to win the $125,000 Group 2 Racing WA 4YO Classic, beating last-start stakes winner Runkle Crunch (Captain Crunch).
The Greg and Skye Bond trained gelding has now won six of his nine starts this season and 12 overall, with Friday's prize money boosting his lifetime earnings to $252,782.
Bred by Bernie and Marg Blackshaw, Mad Monday is out of the Kenneth J mare, Richly Deserved.
In North America, Vincent’s New Zealand-bred daughter Francent finished a gallant second to 2024 US Horse of the Year Twin B Joe Fresh after leading up in the $443,000 Grade 1 US Breeders Crown Open Mares Final at Eldorado Scioto Downs.
Since arriving in North America in June, Francent has won four of her eight starts, including the Grade 2 Milton Stakes, finished second in three, and banked US$263,880 on top of her previous 13 NZ wins and NZ$291,740 in earnings.
Bred by Bob Higgins, Francent is out of Mary Niven, a mare by Courage Under Fire.
