Vincent’s rich vein of form continues

Pure Grunt is the latest Group 1 winner for Vincent after a commanding wire-to-wire victory in the $153,000 QBred Triad 3YO Colts and Geldings Final at Albion Park on Saturday night.

The Donny Smith trained colt made full use of barrier one, spearing to the lead and setting a strong tempo throughout the 2,138m feature before digging deep to fend off James Alfred’s late challenge by a nose in a career-best mile rate of 1:52.

A stakes-placed juvenile last season, Pure Grunt has now won 11 races, with Saturday’s prize money lifting his earnings to $290,596.

Like another of Vincent’s Group 1 winners, Sezsofast, Pure Grunt is out of an American Ideal mare, with his dam the 13-win mare Ideal Tact.

Vincent has enjoyed a tremendous past 12 months, with Pure Grunt his fourth Group 1 winner in that time, alongside Shezsofast, Francent and Arrhythmia; and he represents excellent value for breeders at a service fee of just NZ$2,500 + GST and AU$2,750 incl GST this season.
