Last start Breeders Crown winner Amigo Volo was in a league of his own with a flawless, world record performance in the $181,600 Matron Stakes for 2YO Trotting Colts and Geldings at Dover Downs on November 7 (US time).

The Father Patrick gelding speared to the lead from his wide draw and once in front never gave his rivals a look in, with kiwi reinsman Dexter Dunn letting him run to the line, untouched, six and a half lengths clear from the second placed horse, Patriarch Hanover (also by Father Patrick).

With a winning time of 1:52.8, not only did the Nifty Norman trained freshman become the fastest ever 2-year-old trotter in Dover Downs track history, but also the fastest 2YO trotting gelding of all time on a five-eighths of a mile track, reclaiming his record by a full second from current season competitor Real Cool Sam.

It was Amigo Volo’s sixth win and took his earnings to $605,496, cementing his position as the richest juvenile trotter in North America in 2019.

A $42,000 Lexington Select purchase, Amigo Volo is out of the $600,000 plus earning Yankee Glide mare Margarita Momma, making him a full brother to last year’s Kindergarten Classic Final winner Reign Of Honor.

Father Patrick is enjoying a phenomenal second season in North American, with the two-time Breeders Crown winner the sire of both the current richest 2 and 3-year-old male trotters, Amigo Volo and Greenshoe, as well as the second richest 2-year-old trotting filly of the year to date, Sister Sledge.
