The Nifty Norman trained Amigo Volo is the latest standout juvenile by Father Patrick to emerge in North America this year, with the youngster setting a new world record for a 2-year-old trotting gelding on a five eighths of a mile track when winning a Pennsylvania Sire Stakes division in 1:54.8 at Harrah’s Philadelphia.

The Father Patrick gelding took the lead by the quarter pole in his split, then never gave his rivals a look in, comfortably holding off El Ideal by a length at the line.

His time of 1:54.8 lowered the previous mark, jointly held by White Tiger, Correctamundo and Mississippi Storm, by a fifth of a second.

A $42,000 Lexington Selected purchase, Amigo Volo is out of the multiple stakes race winning, $600,000 plus earning Yankee Glide mare, Margarita Momma, making him a full brother to last year’s Kindergarten Classic Final winner Reign Of Honor.

2-year-olds by Father Patrick were also in the thick of the Kentucky Sire Stakes action over the weekend, winning four of the six opening round divisions at The Red Mile, with Cupid Hanover (1:55.8), Shishito (1:55.4), Rays The Limit (1:55.8) and Sequin (1:56.2) all victorious in their respective splits.
