Son of Always B Miki wins the NZ Kindergarten Stakes
Rubira, by Always B Miki, proved too tough for his rivals in the Group 2 NZ Kindergarten Stakes at Wyndham on Thursday afternoon.
The Mark and Nathan Purdon trained 2-year-old didnʻt have the easiest of runs, with the last start winner prevailing by a neck over the Captain Crunch colt Ukraine in a tight three-way finish after sitting parked for the last half mile.
The win saw Rubira take his record to two wins from two starts and his earnings to almost $40,000.
Bred by Breckon Farms Ltd, he is out of the three-time race-winning Bettorʻs Delight mare Delightful Kas, who is a full sister to the multiple Group 1 winner Montana Belle.
His sire Always B Miki is currently the leading sire of 2-year-old pacers in New Zealand this season.
