TACTICAL LANDING t3, 1:50.4 $812,300 by Muscle Hill from Southwind Serena by Varenne

An outstanding 3-year-old, Tactical Landing won his heat and Final of the Breeders Crown, the Bluegrass Stakes, a Hambletonian elimination (finishing third in the Final), his Kentucky Futurity elimination and the TVG Final against the older trotters.

Richly bred, Tactical Landing is by the greatest modern day trotting sire Muscle Hill, and out of the Breeders Crown winning Hall of Fame mare Southwind Serena, who herself is by the incomparable Varenne, the richest trotter in the history of harness racing.

He was an $800,000 yearling and is a full brother to the world champion and Dan Patch 2YO and 3YO Trotting Filly of the Year, Mission Brief.

Mating Hints

As the reigning US Trotter of the Year and the best son of the superbly bred, red hot young trotting sire Tactical Landing, Tactical Approach is an unprecedented addition to the Australasian trotting sires ranks.

In the US, Tactical Landing has crossed particularly well with mares from the Garland Lobell and Valley Victory sire lines to date and these should also suit his son.

The Garland Lobell sire line is represented down under by the likes of Andover Hall, Angus Hall, Creatine, Imperial Count, Monkey Bones, Quite Easy and Wishing Stone. The only exception to this would be The Pres, who is a three-quarter brother to Tactical Approachʻs dam.

Appropriate Valley Victory stallions include Father Patrick and Volstead.

Credit Winner line stallions such as Crazed and Dejarmbro should also suit Tactical Approach, with Tactical Landingʻs 2023 US 2YO Trotting Colt of the Year Karl bred along these lines being out of a mare by a son of Credit Winner.
