Yearlings from the first crop of Captain Crunch were sought after by buyers at the Australian yearling sales over the weekend, with the stallion producing the highest priced filly at the Sydney Nutrien Standardbred Yearling Sale and the joint sales topper at the APG Perth Yearling Sale.

The top priced filly at the Sydney Nutrien Sale was a Captain Crunch filly out of Kept In Play, a winning Sportswriter half-sister to the four-time Group 1 winner and successful young sire Vincent.

Consigned by Elite Bloodstock, she was purchased by Joel Watson for $150,000.

At the Perth APG Sale, it was also a daughter of Captain Crunch that caught the eye of buyers, with a half-sister to the multiple Group 2 winner Lavra Joe from the draft of KTC Bloodstock making $140,000 – the joint top price at the sale.

Incredibly five of the nine yearlings by Captain Crunch to sell at Perth sold for $60,000 or more, giving him an average price of $60,056.
